Commentary: Quiet General Tries to Keep Army Out of Politics
Zaheed Hussain and Peter Wonncott write in the Wall Street Journal that Pakistan army will intervene again if civilian government failed to control militancy and economic crisis facing Pakistan. The writers say that so far General Kiani has kept the army out of the politics. However, they think deteriorating law and order situation and continued economic crises will force him to kick the squabbling politicians out of the scene and take charge.
I agree with them. Fortune has placed Pakistan in the hands of two corrupt and inefficient politicians, and they will do nothing to improve the lives of ordinary Pakistanis. Their wrangling will give the army pretext to intervene again.
