Who can act as a sponsor for a German student visa?

 For a German student visa, the following individuals can act as sponsors through a  Declaration  of Commitment:

Eligible Sponsors

  • Immediate Family Members :

    • Spouses
    • Children
  • Extended Family Members :
    • Uncles, aunts, or cousins ​​who have the financial capacity and are willing to support.
  • Close Family Friends :
    • Friends or acquaintances who understand the student's situation and can provide financial backing.
  • Legal Guardians :
    • If applicable, legal guardians can also serve as sponsors.

Requirements for Sponsors

  • Legal Residency : The sponsor must be a legal resident of Germany, holding a valid German ID or residence permit.
  • Financial Stability : The sponsor needs to demonstrate sufficient financial resources to cover the student's living expenses during their stay in Germany.
  • Commitment to Cover Costs : The sponsor is responsible for all costs associated with the student's living expenses, including accommodation, food, health insurance, and emergency costs.
