More than 2317 children have been kidnapped from Karachi: unimportant issue for our leaders.

The News reported:

As many as 2,317 children reportedly went missing from the jurisdiction of 106 police stations in 20 towns of Karachi, and only 16 percent of them were recovered, according to data collected by the Roshni Helpline, a civil society group working to uphold the rights of women and children.

I was shocked when I read the report in today’s The News.  What shocked me most is the callous attitude of police department. They don’t register cases when parents approach them.

The paper added:

It is also observed that in most of the cases, police treat a missing or kidnapping case as a non-cognizable offence, which results in no action; rather, it causes more difficulties for the family.
A majority of the cases reported to police are lodged in Roznamcha – the daily diary referred to as Kachi FIR.

Our leaders make lofty claims to make this country prosperous, but they do not pay attention to basic problems faced by our people. Can you imagine the condition of parents who children have been kidnapped.
