According to “Agence France Presse” (AFP), the prosecutors asked the Barcelona court to sentence the singer, who was born in Colombia, to 8 years in prison for tax evasion along with a hefty fine.

When Shakira recently promised to resolve the tax fraud case on behalf of the authorities, the government’s attorneys filed the petition in court at that time.

Government attorneys asked the court to sentence Shakira to eight years in prison and a fine after the singer rejected the settlement, but the court did not immediately issue an order.
