The story of Anil Kumar Chowhan attracted my attention. In this era of hate and war, this man is doing a great work with passion. J. S. Ifthekhar wrote:

Some like to desecrate, while some consecrate. Places of worship in Hyderabad were in for defilement recently. But here is a man who loves to deck and embellish them.

Anil Kumar Chowhan, an artist by profession, has been offering his services to paint Koranic verses and supplications in mosques for more than a decade. While the sanctity of temples and mosques in Hyderabad was violated, he carried out his job with single-minded devotion.

In the last decade-and-a-half, Mr. Chowhan has done calligraphic work in almost 100 mosques in Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and nearby districts.

 

For the past few months, we have been getting bad news from Hyderabad. This story brings some hope.

Commentary: Violence breaks out at Indian beef-eating festival

BBC has reported that violence has erupted in  the Indian city of Hyderabad. The riot sparked off at a A beef-eating festival at an Osmania university. It is sad that 1500 people were offered beef biriyani at the festival organized by ow caste Dalit groups.
According to news reports, Dalit groups are trying to add beef on the campus hostel menu. Right wing Hindu groups are resisting their attempts. I would like to mention here that last year’s festival also ended in violence.
I would put the blame on the University Administration. They should understand the gravity of the situation. Since Independence thousands of riots have occurred because of cow slaughtered as a result thousands of lives have been wasted. They must not do this kind of provocative things.

Cases of forced conversions and marriages rising in Sindh

“Give us our Rinkle back,” demanded the relatives of the Hindu girl. This poor Hindu girl was kidnapped from her house in Mirpur Mathelo in Ghotki district. Her relatives allege that her kidnapper forced her to change religion, and they married her to a Muslim boy.
Members of all minorities groups come out in support for the girl. The group that protested at the Karachi Press Club, included Christians and Sikhs. Her accused PPP MNA Mian Abdul Haq of the kidnapping. He said they kidnapped her at a gun point.
I failed to understand why did the honorable not hand her back to family when she informed the court that she wanted to go to her family.
These kind of cases dent the image of our country. Government should form a special enquiry team and try to find the real facts and punish the culprits who are treating our minorities harshly. More than 180 million Muslim live in India. We have not heard  of stories from the other side of the border.
