A comprehensive study conducted by American experts has found that a cholesterol-lowering drug considered harmful to health surprisingly not only reduces the chances of a heart attack, but it also helps to improve muscles.
At present, medicines for other formulations, including statins, are available worldwide to reduce the level of bad cholesterol i.e. LDL, but it is believed that such medicines have more negative effects.
To reduce cholesterol and test their negative or positive effects, experts researched a drug called bempedoic acid, which showed that it not only reduces bad cholesterol, but it also reduces the chances of heart attack.
According to the Associated Press (AP), experts investigated 14,000 people for five years to test the effects of bempedoic acid, the results of which were surprising.
Experts said that the results of the use of (bempedoic acid) showed that while the drug reduces bad cholesterol i.e. LDL, which is considered dangerous for heart disease, stroke and liver diseases, it also reduces the chances of heart attack.
According to experts, the medicine has a good effect on muscles and they become more soft instead of being hard.
Experts claimed that no significant adverse effects of bempedoic acid were found, while earlier other cholesterol-lowering drugs (statins) had more negative effects.
